Clinic Staff 2009

Head Receptionist

Vanessa

Vanessa was a client of Blue Cross Animal Hospital who spent her high school co-op placement at the clinic.  Shortly after completing her placement, she began working part-time at Blue Cross Animal Hospital.  In mid-1997, she joined the team as a full-time receptionist, and has focused her efforts on making sure the front office and reception run smoothly. She also gives assistance to the veterinarians and technicians when needed. 

In her spare time, Vanessa enjoys riding her horse, Marty, and other outdoor activities.  She was married in October 2007, and she and her husband share their home with their cat, Dynamite, and their dog, Tucker.

Office Manager

Heather

Heather began working at Blue Cross Animal Hospital during her co-op student placement and has been an employee since 1990.  Since this time, she married and became the proud mother of two daughters and twin sons.  Heather takes care of the day-to-day office management, as well as providing assistance in surgery, radiology, lab analysis, patient treatment and monitoring, and reception.

In her spare time (ha ha) she likes to read and spend time with her family and their dog, Roxy.

Veterinary Technician

Debbie

Debbie began working at Blue Cross Animal Hospital after graduation from Centralia College in 1983. (Holy Cow!!) In the early nineties, she took a three year hiatus until her youngest son entered school on a full time basis, during which time she worked weekends at the Emergency Veterinary Clinic.  She works full time at the clinic, and is in charge of the surgical suite, providing surgical assistance and monitoring anesthesia. In addition, Debbie performs labwork, takes and processes radiographs, monitors hospitalized patients, assists the veterinarians, and otherwise provides backup to the reception staff. 

In her spare time, Debbie loves to spend time with her husband, her 2 sons and the newest addition to her family, her granddaughter Madelyna! Her "buppies", Ty and Poppy continue to rule the household! She is also a reality show junkie!!! 

Veterinary Technician

Cheryl

Cheryl graduated from the technician program at Ridgetown College in 1999.  She joined Blue Cross Animal Hospital after her graduation.  She works as a receptionist/technician and performs the majority of our laboratory work, and provides surgical assistance including post-operative monitoring. She works as part of the diagnostic and treatment team along with Debbie, Heather and Vanessa. 

She lives with her 2 cats and enjoys reading and surfing the net.

Veterinary Technician

Crystal

Crystal recently graduated from the Veterinary Technician program at the University of Guelph, Ridgetown campus in June 2010. Previously, she completed the animal care course at Sheridan College. She was employed part-time by the Kitchener-Waterloo Humane Society for several years and volunteered at veterinary hospitals. She joined our team as an internship student in 2010, and was hired on full-time shortly after. She assists with labwork, surgery, caring for patients, and reception.

She lives with her dog Tanner, and two cats Baby and Handsome, all of whom were adopted from the KWHS. She enjoys spending time with her pets, friends, and boyfriend.

Receptionist

Lisa

Lisa has worked in the veterinary field for many years, and started working at Blue Cross Animal Hospital in February 2005. She works full-time as part of the reception team and also gives the veterinarians assistance when needed.

Lisa and her husband live with their 2 dogs, Logan and Brodie and their cat, Ivy. They are also getting ready to welcome thier new baby in Sept 2010. In her spare time she enjoys reading, watching movies and spending time with her husband and pets.

Receptionist

Ahilya

Ahilya joined the staff at Blue Cross Animal Hospital in the Summer of 2005. She had worked in a Veterinary Clinic for 2 years previous to joining us here. Before that, she spent many years working as a Medical Secretary. She has a teenage son, currently in highschool.

In her spare time, Ahilya enjoys watching movies, reading and spending time with her husband, son and nieces and nephew.

Receptionist

Julie

Julie came to Blue Cross Animal Hospital as a high school co-op student in 2002-2003, and started working part time in December 2004. She will graduate in 2011 from the Veterinary Program at the Ontario Veterinary College, University of Guelph. During the school year, Julie works part time, and during summer and school breaks she works full time. 

Julie has always had a love of animals. In her spare time she enjoys working with horses and riding competitively, as well as spending time with her boyfriend and their dog, Tucker.
